Florals Star In This Chic Laguna Beach Wedding

Despite fall quickly approaching, we’re not quite ready to let go of summer yet. So it’s no wonder that we can’t get enough of Colton and Tyler’s chic Laguna Beach wedding at Terra Laguna Beach. Despite the challenges of planning a wedding during the pandemic, the day turned out perfectly thanks to their planner, Events By Pure Lavish.

The draped florals of the ceremony backdrop–arranged by Sacred Romance Floral Design–added a glamorous touch to the venue’s lush landscape. Meanwhile, the use of greenery on the reception tables and agate name cards paired with the natural feel of the space perfectly. And, of course, it’d be a shame to talk about this wedding without mentioning how handsome the grooms looked in their burgundy and navy ASOS suits and matching Louboutin’s–which added a subtle pop of color to the day.

Junebug member and photographer Oh Lovely Wedding did an amazing job capturing every heartfelt moment of this special day–from the emotional first look to their seaside portraits. If you’re looking for oceanside wedding inspiration that still screams elegant, look no further because this one is a true treat.

Choosing Matching Wedding Shoes

We picked our wedding colors very early on. Tyler always wanted burgundy (despite his family’s hesitations to also be in burgundy), and Colton was always set on navy. We decided to buy both suits from ASOS to save money for the Louboutin’s we both had our hearts set on. We loved having matching dress shoes for the ceremony and then switching into matching Nikes for the reception.

Opting For A Chic Laguna Beach Wedding

We knew we wanted things to be outdoors and we knew we wanted to be married in Southern California where Tyler is from. In full honesty, we were also big fans of the show Laguna Beach which may have influenced us a little. From there, we made a list of venues and quickly fell in love with the blend of simplicity and dramatics the Terra provides in its design.

Including Friends And Personal Vows In The Ceremony

Our officiant Priscilla is a close friend of Tyler’s family who we grew up with. She was also one of the only adults from Tyler’s world that Colton spent time with in the early stages of our relationship. We knew we wanted someone who knew both of us and loved that Priscilla was also a marriage and family therapist with 50 years of marriage experience to speak from. Additionally, we wrote our own vows and referenced things that are special to our relationship like Sweet Home Alabama and Tyler vowed to kiss me anytime he wants—insert heart eyes here!.

Working With Junebug Member Oh Lovely Wedding

Amanda was simply incredible. She had also taken our engagement photos for us (at 6 am no less!), and we knew that her knowledge of us and our relationship would shine in our wedding photos. She made sure that the entire day was comfortable for each of us and that no moment was missed. I would genuinely say that we’ve become friends with Amanda over the last two years and that made all the difference on the big day!

Creating A Wedding Planning Mood Board

When we got engaged, we immediately started brainstorming how to bring our vision to life. We knew we wanted it to be entirely outdoors, we knew we wanted a familial vibe, and we knew we wanted a color scheme that lent itself to us wearing different colored suits. From there, we worked with our coordinator on a very detailed mood board that took into account the jewel and earth tones that we loved and the simple green and white florals that we thought would best compliment those colors. The final details came together as we looked for ways to build in each of our personalities.

Bright, Unique, And Mid Century Modern Elopement *

Bright, Unique, And Mid Century Modern Elopement

A vintage mid-length dress, a DIY vibrant bouquet, and an Airbnb wedding venue—these were the unique ingredients used to bring Annelise and Joel’s mid-century modern elopement to life. This Palm Springs loving couple wanted a simple wedding day that was achievable but still show-stopping. A nuptial that was infused with their personalities, without breaking the bank

From the bride’s DIY bouquet—which she created the day before her wedding—to the fully vintage attire, no detail Junebug member Carmen Lopez Photography captured was short of amazing. Whether you’re looking for budget-friendly wedding ideas or creative ways to incorporate loved ones in your elopement, this Southern California celebration is the perfect place to draw inspiration from

Carmen Lopez’s Thoughts On This Mid Century Modern Elopement

Annelise and Joel put so much work into the details behind their big day. Though it was super important to keep this intimate day about their love for each other, they wanted to incorporate their loved ones. Her best friend made their cake, his best friend officiated the ceremony, and hand-made them all dinner after the celebration. It was truly a team effort!

The Wedding:

Palm Springs, California

Don’t Stress Over Small Details

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by options or Pinterest ideas. It’s completely understandable to want a beautiful perfect day but once it comes at the expense of your sanity it’s time to just pick one and push forward. Most of the time your initial instinct is the right one anyway. At the end of the day none of those factors are going to be important in your everyday marriage.

Saving Money With A DIY Bridal Bouquet

We wanted our wedding planning process to be achievable and budget-friendly. Not wanting to spend too much on flowers, Annelise and a friend hit the Los Angeles Flower Mart the Wednesday before the wedding. We had a few inspiration photos but mostly decided to wing it, following how-to-assemble-a-bouquet guides on the internet. Annelise did the assembling the night before the ceremony surrounded by a group of loved ones. It was fun, laid-back, and meaningful. Something that would not be possible with the chaos of a larger wedding celebration.

Advice For Narrowing Down Vendors

It obviously varies greatly depending on the scale of your wedding, but larger weddings can really overwhelm you with the amount of choices. When it comes to wedding vendors, our biggest piece of advice is to sit down with your significant other and take turns sharing your top vendors. This will save you from having to look at 100 different options.

A Short, Sweet, And Personalized Ceremony

The actual ceremony, though short, was very much tailored to us. Rather than traditional vows, we both spoke about our relationship, our future, and what we loved and cherished about our relationship. Our friends spokeabout our individual friendships and how they have seen our relationship with each other grow. Our small terrier Bindle was our special guest who delighted everyone with her floral corsage

Involving Loved Ones In Your Elopement

We involved our guests as much as possible. Our witness—Annelise’s best friend Kat—made the wedding cake and brought a Day of the Dead cake topper. We all like a little touch of spookiness and we love the slightly off quality these little totems have. Our witness’ mom also made us some last-minute tablescape textiles. Even though we didn’t DIY those ourselves it was a really sweet contribution to our celebration.

Working With Photographer Carmen Lopez Photography

After reviewing probably sixty wedding photographer’s websites, we finally came across Carmen Lopez Photography. We were limited because our date was last minute and we’re so lucky to have found her. When she showed up ready to party in a coverall jumpsuit we knew we had made the right choice. While taking photos the desert wind picked up and Carmen was such a pro at moving us around, shifting, and relocating to get amazing pictures. We’re both pretty awkward in front of a camera and are so happy with how Carmen’s photos turned out.

Gorgeously Green Multi-Day Lake Tahoe Lodge Wedding

When it came to creating their perfect wedding, Chase and Mauro wanted it to be about spending time with their loved ones—including their fur baby— and having one big party. They knew that the Chalet View Lodge was perfect, so they rented it out for the weekend. With the help of their family, they DIYed most of their wedding to stay within their budget. From the invitations to Mauro making their cake, there was an extra personal touch of love everywhere.

Using the colors of nature as their color palette, their stunning Lake Tahoe lodge wedding featured wood details, luscious greenery, simple florals, and twinkly lights. Thankfully, Junebug member Apollo Fotografie expertly captured every inch of this DIYed wedding. Scroll down to see the ceremony from start to finish and let it inspire you to DIY parts of your own wedding.

Spending Time Together As A Family

By far the most important thing for us is that we wanted the wedding to be an opportunity for our families and friends to really get to spend time together and connect. We knew we wanted to find a lodge where just our guests could sleep and be together for the whole weekend. It worked out amazingly well. For three straight days, our guests were hanging out by the pool, going on hikes together, and, of course, enjoying plenty of drinks together!

A DIYed Lake Tahoe Lodge Wedding

We’re exceptionally proud of how much of our wedding was done by ourselves and our family! I designed all of our stationery, Mauro’s sister, with help from my sisters and aunts, did all our flowers using Sam’s Club flowers. My brother-in-law was our DJ, my uncle was our officiant. Mauro’s family friends catered our rehearsal dinner, and Mauro made our cake! Our live band was a couple of guys we happened to hear at a bar in my hometown one night. We heard them play, loved them, and offered to fly them out to play at our wedding! It was a bit outside our budget, but it was the first vacation they had taken in a while and their first time in California, so it was more than worth it.

A Day Filled With Memories

Our dog stopping to poop while we walking down the aisle is pretty memorable! Also, we wanted a marijuana bar as a fun novelty. But, within five minutes of opening it, everything was gone and the area was up in a cloud of smoke. It’s the part other people remember the most—it comes up any time someone talks to us about the wedding.

Don’t Stress Over Every Detail

At a certain point, a few months before the wedding, we realized that even if nothing else was planned or done, we’d still have an amazing party. The only things you really need are your venue, food, clothes, alcohol, and guests. Everything else is just a fun bonus, so there’s no need to stress over every last detail.

Why A Lake Tahoe Lodge Wedding?

We chose our venue for a very specific reason: we knew we wanted to have around 150 people there and we knew we wanted to have the entire place to ourselves for the weekend. So, we had to find a venue that had enough lodging for our guest count so that we could rent out the entire place. That narrowed things down pretty quickly.

Simple and Elegant Intimate Lakeside Micro Wedding

Weddings do look and feel a little different thanks to the pandemic. However, with pandemic restrictions slowly lifting around the world, Emily and Robert were able to book their dream venue. Plus, they were able to include their friends and family via Zoom! Fast forward a year later, they were able to celebrate their marriage with their friends and family for an in-person reception at Emily’s childhood home!

From a sunrise first look at Half Dome to saying “I do” at Yosemite Falls, we are gushing over Emily and Robert’s lakeside micro wedding. Not to mention Emily looks incredible in her off-the-shoulder Elora Dress from Madi Lane. Whether they were running around Yosemite National Park, or laughing with their loved ones, Junebug member Authentic Collective captured it all.

Emily and Robert

The Wedding:

Swinging Bridge, Yosemite National Park, California

A Sunrise First Look

The most memorable part of our day was by far the sunrise first look at Glacier Point. Rob was standing on an overlook staring out to the horizon, the sun was rising but still low enough to be hidden behind the infamous Half Dome. Then, just as I started walking towards Rob, the sun illuminated the entire sky as it began beaming out from behind Half Dome. Tears immediately started flowing from excitement and joy as I walked up behind him and put my hand on his shoulder. It seemed as though in this exact moment “the stars aligned” perfectly for us, reassuring us this is where we were meant to be.

Hosting A Pandemic Wedding

We’re most proud of the fact that we didn’t allow the pandemic to curb our determination to get married in our dream location. We are so grateful for modern-day technology that allowed us to have all of our friends and family there virtually! The pandemic absolutely changed our original wedding plans, so we were on the fence quite a few times deciding if we should postpone a full year later.

Wedding Advice for Nearlyweds

The first thing that comes to both our minds is to follow your heart when planning. Always remember your wedding day is about you and your partner and you should do exactly what you want! It’s impossible to please everyone on your wedding day, so have fun, relax and bask in the beauty that you just married the love of your life!

A Lakeside Micro Wedding at Yosemite National Park

We chose to have our ceremony at Swinging Bridge Picnic Area. The wedding coordinator at Yosemite National Park gave us a list of locations to choose from for our ceremony. As soon as we visited this picnic area, I immediately envisioned myself walking over the bridge with my father as Rob waited on the Merced river bank! Not only was this such a stunning place for an intimate lakeside micro wedding ceremony, but in the background is a perfect shot of Yosemite Falls. This is the very first location Rob and I visited in the park. Having our wedding there made it feel like our love for this park came full circle.

Reception Venue, Cake, and Catering – Chateau Du Sureau
Floral Design – Sweet Dreams Weddings
Officiant – Kathleen Malloy

Congratulations Emily and Robert on their gorgeous lakeside micro wedding.

The post Magnificent Fairytale Colony 29 Wedding appeared first on .

The minute you step foot in Palm Springs, it feels like you’ve been transported back to the 50s. Vanessa and Lawrence leaned into those retro vibes for their Colony 29 wedding. With the help of planner Details Darling, the couple transformed the desert oasis into a vintage fairytale. The dreamy hotel was decked out in large floral arrangements and dried palms from Joy of Bloom Florals, mid-century signage, neon lights, and the lovebirds’ signature quote, “I f*cking love you.”

If that wasn’t enough, the couple chose to drive around in a vintage 1962 Thunderbird convertible, have their first dance to “I’ve Got A Crush On You” by Frank Sinatra, and had signature cocktails named after their favorite travel destinations. Talk about leaving no detail untouched.

Thankfully they hired Kaylee Chelsea Photography to beautifully capture every special moment–from an adorable first look to an epic drive off into the sunset. So keep scrolling to see these blast to the past “I do’s.”

The Groom Helped Pick Out The Wedding Dress

I knew I wanted to feel like a princess but also wanted to have a playful feel that would be elegant but fun. What that looked like, I had no idea. I tried on over 40 dresses with my maid of honor but none seemed to be “the one.” Because we were together for over seven years, we both wanted to be involved in each other’s fashion and beauty looks. I invited Lawrence to Kinsley James Couture Bridal to help with dresses. When I came out in my first dress, Lawrence said, “you look like a princess,” and I knew it was “the one.”

Why A Fall Colony 29 Wedding

On October 10, 2020, we said “I f*cking love you” for a lifetime in a desert oasis amongst our closest family and friends. 10/10/20 was an extremely special date since 2020 marked our ten-year anniversary. And Palm Springs was an easy destination choice since we visited it yearly for my birthday. Once the breathtaking Colony 29 doors opened into a secluded, magical, and fairytale-like environment filled with roses, bougainvilleas, cacti, butterflies, hummingbirds, roadrunners, and the most stunning historic artist colony scene, Lawrence looked at me and said, “I think this is it.”

Incorporating Small Personal Details Throughout The Day

Since we met on the Match.com dating site, we decided to use matches for guests to find their seats. Surrounding the matches was a beautiful expression of our love story in white and gold metallic script. “I met my match” sat across from “and I f*cking love you” since Lawrence proposed to me using a jewelry dish reading those same words in gold script.
