Astrology Inspired Wedding Vision
We spent a lot of time thinking about the smallest details to make our day special and really curate an entire vibe. We were so lucky that our vendors were so on board with this vision and just as excited about it as we were. My vision from day one was to have a seating chart using crystals for each guest. This was brought to life by our planner and calligrapher, who made the signs. I sourced all the crystals from Etsy and local shops. I specifically chose crystals within our color scheme. This display came out so cool, and the crystals were a really unique favor for guests.

Special Zodiac Sign Details
With the help of Chrissy Marie Designs, we were also able to get zodiac sign necklaces and boutonniere charms for the whole bridal party. This was probably one of my favorite details. I also DIY’d the place cards, which included guest names and zodiac signs. This was such a fun detail for our guests, and it was fun for us to learn everyone’s signs.

Choosing The Lace Factory As Their Venue
We pretty much settled on The Lace Factory before we were even engaged. We went there one day for brunch and then rode the Essex Steam Train. It was a blast. The Lace Factory had the vibe we wanted and it was so cool that our guests could take the steam train to our wedding. We didn’t get to ride the train with our guests. But the train did come back after our ceremony to take some photos on it with our wedding party. Those ended up being some of our favorite photos so we’re so glad they were able to come back.

The Most Memorable Parts of the Day
There were so many memorable moments, but two definitely stick out for us. The first was the actual wedding ceremony. It was incredible to finally be there with all the people we love together in the same place. Our ceremony was officiated by a close family friend who took so much time to write a beautiful and personal ceremony. We had live music from our friends Rad and Kell, which also made the ceremony incredibly special. I walked down the aisle to “Crystal” by Fleetwood Mac, and our recessional song was “Everywhere” by Fleetwood Mac. The other most memorable moment was seeing our reception space. After months of working on all the decor and design, it was awesome to see it all come to life. It was so breathtakingly beautiful and even more magical than we ever could have imagined.

Bringing Their Vision To Life Through Their Stone Acres Farm Wedding
We picked a venue that spoke to us. With its romantic outdoor views and the beautiful florals by Rooted Flowers, many of our guests commented on how they could really feel the love between us. We also loved how awesome our wedding vendors were, how well they worked together, and how they brought our vision to life.
The Most Memorable Part Of The Day
For Emily, the most memorable part of the day was saying my written vows to Kimberly in front of all our family and friends. For Kim, the most memorable part was walking down through the garden towards Emily and then staring into her eyes as we read our vows. The clouds opened up and the sun literally started to shine on us as soon as she said my name. It was absolutely perfect.
A Personalized Ceremony
We actually put together the whole ceremony ourselves. Our Justice of the Peace gave us examples of different ceremony styles. We picked parts from each of them that we liked and pieced them together to make it our own. We also wrote our own vows, which we highly recommend!
DIY Wedding Decor
We made the centerpieces and table numbers for the reception ourselves. For the centerpieces, we used different sized hurricane vases, added a candle, and a small amount of white rocks to each. The table numbers were glass frames where we used clear shellac to add on pressed ferns and greens. The numbers themselves were made with a Cricut. Our seating chart was also DIY, which was two windows hinged together. We added the pressed greens with the shellac and hand-wrote the names of the guests at each table.
Working with Junebug Member Elizabeth Grant Photography
Hiring Elizabeth Grant to capture our special day was one of the best decisions we made. We felt completely at ease knowing she was our photographer. As soon as she showed up, she became Kim’s rock, not only acting as our photographer, but serving in many different roles without skipping a beat. She was fun and made people feel comfortable, in fact, all our guests raved about her and her assistant afterward.
Congratulations to Emily and Kim on their beautiful outdoor Stone Acres Farm wedding. Big thanks to Elizabeth Grant for capturing all the powerful emotions of the day. The love in the photos is palpable. To see more of Elizabeth’s work, check out her profile in our directory of wedding photographers from around the world!

Grace and Steven described their Connecticut wedding at Harkness Memorial State Park as “classically elegant,” and we agree. The couple wanted a day that felt personal to them–and from private vows at the first look to gorgeous pink and white florals from Floral Designs by Justine to invites with a watercolor portrait of their pup Georgia created by Cat Wilcox–we think they pulled it off beautifully.
Not only did Junebug member Elizabeth Grant Photography do an incredible job of capturing all of the special moments of the day, but we also love what she had to say about Grace and Steven’s love!
Elizabeth Grant’s Take on Their Special Day
Eolia Mansion is a beautiful historic property–with gorgeous gardens, a breathtaking beach, and a simple interior lending itself to personalization by the couple to make a wedding of any size feel intimate. Grace and Steven are the sweetest couple, too. Steven supports Grace in everything that she does, and you can see how proud he is of her when he looks at her. Grace is soft yet strong and has found her soulmate in Steven. They exchanged private vows before seeing each other for the first time. Then, a beautiful church ceremony and reception buzzing with love and energy followed. The two of them floated on cloud nine all day as they celebrated their union with their closest friends and family.

Why Eolia Mansion at Harkness Memorial State Park
Eolia Mansion was right in our backyard in Waterford and combined the elegance we were seeking with our love for the water. It was the only venue we visited and—being so close to home—a place we knew we could visit and remember the day for years to come.

Wedding Advice From The Bride
The best advice I can offer is to have a conversation or meeting with vendors before hiring them. There were many photographers, for instance, whose style I loved, but the connection wasn’t there when we spoke. When I met Elizabeth over the phone, I knew immediately that she would be perfect for us. Also, enjoy it!

Adding Personal Touches
We were aiming for a classically elegant vibe. I wanted a lot of whites, pale pinks, and greens. I also wanted it to be personal and meaningful. To add a personal aspect, my mom worked with our invitation designer to watercolor our venue for the invites, and our designer included a watercolor of our beloved dog, Georgie.

Congratulations again to Grace and Steven on their elegant Connecticut wedding at Eolia Mansion in Harkness Memorial State Park!
