Beautiful Backyard Florida Wedding

This wedding was doused in florals and feathers. We mean it—Bridgerton’s got nothing on this backyard Florida wedding. Alexa and Javin decided to tie the knot at their home when COVID restrictions didn’t allow for a destination wedding. With florals by 2 Birds Events and help from wedding planner–and Junebug member–Carefully Curated Events, their backyard was completely transformed into a gorgeous fairy-tale wedding venue.

Speaking of fairy tales, Alexa’s gorgeous blush-toned gown makes it easy to understand why brides are opting for more colorful wedding dresses. Her bridesmaids complemented her look with matching mauve gowns while the groom and groomsmen rocked dark green suits and floral ties. Thankfully, Britt & Bean Photography captured the essence of the entire wedding. Keep scrolling to see every detail of this beautiful backyard wedding.

Bridal Quality Time With The Girls

While I was so incredibly happy with our decor and florals, the part of the day that filled my heart was being able to enjoy the day with the five most amazing girlfriends, my bridesmaids. It’s not easy to build healthy strong relationships and friendships that are filled with unconditional love. When I look back at photos at myself and my girls, I couldn’t be more proud to have had them by my side. Weddings are the perfect time to reflect on all the blessings you have—especially your people.

Marrying Your Best Friend

The most memorable part of the day was walking back up the aisle together. Everything happens so fast during the ceremony, you don’t even realize what is happening. But after it’s over and it’s just you two together, you can finally have your “Oh my god, I just got to marry my best friend” moment.

Choosing A Backyard Florida Wedding

We were originally supposed to have a destination wedding in North Carolina, but it didn’t work out due to COVID restrictions. So we picked the most beautiful, most comfortable place for us in Florida—my home!

Advice From The Bride

This is the most overstated and stereotypical piece of advice, but it’s also the most important: find a way to manage your stress. I won’t say “don’t stress” because that is impossible, but you have to find a way to handle it or it will steal your joy. Halfway through my planning process, I wanted to call off the whole big wedding and just go to the courthouse. It’s not a fun feeling so avoid it as much as possible.

Spectacularly Multicultural Brazilian and Puerto Rican Wedding *

Spectacularly Multicultural Brazilian and Puerto Rican Wedding *

From incorporating two different cultures on their wedding day to the bride’s parents singing I’ll Stand By You, this wedding was anything but ordinary. Jennifer and Edmar’s Brazilian and Puerto Rican wedding took multiculturalism to a new level. With help from their wedding planner Truly Yours Coordinator, they were able to incorporate their different cultures in the food, drinks, and yes, even Samba dancers.

To top off this spectacular ceremony, the wedding day fashion was straight out of a magazine. The bride’s gown gives Bridgerton meets modern-day princess vibes and the colorful teal groomsmen suits were a perfectly coordinated pop of color. But seriously, you’re not going to want to skip past this wedding. Keep scrolling and let pictures from Jessica Jones Photography sweep you off your feet.

The Wedding:

A Brazilian and Puerto Rican Wedding

The one thing we wanted most was to embrace both of our cultures and bring them together. Edmar is Brazilian and I am Puerto Rican so we incorporated a few of our favorite desserts and drinks from each of those places to add a special touch to our wedding. We served traditional beverages such as Coquito and Caipirinha. Guava pastries, quesitos, and brigadeiro were some of our favorite desserts to share with our guests as well.

Advice From The Bride

Stay true to yourself!  It’s so easy to get caught up in beautiful styled shoots or wedding traditions. Although styled shoots are a great way to get inspiration and find vendors, it can sometimes make you feel that your wedding needs to meet a certain expectation. Remembering the true meaning of this big day and making it about what you both love will put your mind at ease, and give a unique touch to your wedding.

First Surprise: Parents Performing

The first surprise at our wedding was one from my Mom, Dad, brother, and Uncle. They dedicated to us the song “I’ll Stand by You,” by The Pretenders, and performed it for us. My mom sang beautifully in English for the first time. My dad held it down with the saxophone along with my brother and uncle, who accompanied on the guitar. They are all musicians and it was such a beautiful and emotional moment. I wasn’t the only one shedding a tear during their performance.

Second Surprise: Samba Dancers

The second surprise was from me. Edmar’s family is from Brazil and I wanted to incorporate a part of their culture into our wedding celebration. So, I hired Samba dancers and stilt walkers as part of the entertainment of the night. After cutting the cake, my coordinators snuck me back into my room to change into my festive gown for this part of the night. On cue, the Dj played Samba music as the Samba dancers and I walked out together into the crowd to start the Hora Loca (which translates to crazy hour). His family was so excited about the surprise and danced the night away reminiscing on popular songs from Brazil. You can see in the pictures how our families and guests were having such a great time celebrating us both.

Colorful Casual Florida Wedding at Home *

Lindsay and Garland made laid-back look oh-so-cool in their Florida backyard wedding. With the help of planner Southern Romance Events, the couple turned Lindsay’s parents’ property into a colorfully casual oasis filled with lush greenery, wild floral arrangements from ABC Event Planning, and an Engine 53 Pizza food truck.

The Portos were the perfect photographers to capture the free-spirited vibes of the day. Keep scrolling to see every detail they captured–including silly bridal party photos, a reception party complete with cigars, and a late-night jump in the pool.

Lindsay and Garland

The Wedding:

Bradenton, Florida

Laid-Back Wedding Vibes

We had an idea of what we wanted functionally, but Lindsay really took over the details department. We wanted something intimate–where we could leave the day and feel like we actually got to soak in everything. The ceremony and reception were both outside, so we really leaned on the natural vibe and minimal decorations. Mix and matched rugs were rolled out for the ceremony space, which transitioned into a “dance floor,” and guests got to walk around and find little pockets in the trees and bamboo to sit and chat, etc. It was easy going.

Why a Casual Florida Wedding

Initially, we had booked a different venue which was lovely. But once we started planning, it just didn’t feel right. Lindsay’s parents have an amazing property she grew up on, and after we started picturing our wedding there we never looked back. It was a comforting space for us and required very little decoration because of all the natural charm and beauty.

A Pizza Party

We both (especially Lindsay) love pizza–who doesn’t? We knew we wanted a food truck, so we started doing research and taste-testing the pizzas we were sold. Everyone got to go up and order their own freshly prepared ‘za, cooked in a coal fire oven in a converted fire truck. Overall it was very relaxed and fun.

A Memorable Swim

The whole day was amazing–from reading our vows we wrote together, to a big dance party under the stars. It’s difficult to narrow down what was most memorable. But a highlight for us was jumping into the pool together at the very end of the night–including our wedding party and 3 sons. Even our moms got in!

Elegant and Airy Florida Wedding at Streamsong Resort *

Elegant and Airy Florida Wedding at Streamsong Resort *

If whimsical elegance is your favorite kind of inspo, you are going to love Patricia and Jordan’s airy Florida wedding at Streamsong Resort. The couple tied the knot in front of friends and family in a ceremony complete with a DIY altar and romantic floating candles before moving inside the resort to celebrate their love at an all-white reception. The party featured a stunning cake with real roses from Hands on Sweets and hand-stamped place cards.

Patricia’s Berta gown and matching cape flowed beautifully in the Florida breeze for their golf course portraits, and Jordan looked sharp in his navy and black tux with matching black floral bow tie. We’re utterly obsessed with the fact that Patricia changed into an off-the-shoulder satin gown for the reception and changed her hairstyle into a long braid.

But we’re most excited about the fact that Madison Katlin Photography was there to capture every detail–from sweet getting ready portraits with family to stunning shots of the couple on the greens. Keep scrolling to see a timeless affair that’s sure to inspire.

Marina and Adam’s industrial yet whimsical nuptials have us swooning. With friends and family all over the world, the couple knew getting their loved ones to one place would not be an easy task. While they live in Brooklyn, they decided on MAPS Backlot in Miami where the bride’s father lives and where the weather is ideal all year round. We love the words that their wedding planner, The Creative’s Loft, put together to describe their picture-perfect day:

“Marina and Adam are a fun and creative couple who live in Brooklyn. She is from Brazil and he comes from the UK. Their desire…organize a cool, fun and creative wedding in Miami. Brooklyn is their neighborhood and their wish was very simple: bring Brooklyn vibes to their big day organized in Miami. They contacted The Creative’s Loft as soon as they chose Miami and we made sure to come up with a very unique and creative wedding.

They had a creative + romantic vision for their day. We all thought that MAPS Backlot was the perfect spot to make their dream come true! Their reception was unique with those customized wood structures we designed. Their ceremony was edgy and colorful. The florals gave a very delicate touch to the overall venue and the music brought by Event Factor put the vibe up! Party time was fun and they brought the Brazilian Hora Loca to the last hour of the day.

Indeed a very touchable and unforgettable day…all their guests flew from all parts of the world.”

My engagement ring is in the shape of a hexagon. A lot of the wedding inspiration came from my ring, actually, and we did a huge wooden hexagon to mirror my engagement ring – and as a symbol for our love. It was a beautiful surprise for everyone.

In Brazilian tradition, you usually thank the parents, grandparents, and honor all grandparents who have passed. No one knew we would carry this tradition. We had our parents and grandparents stand up to honor them and mentioned the names of our grandparents who have passed and who we knew were there with us. It was special to us – but was deeply emotional and special to our parents. Unforgettable.

Our wedding was during Carnaval in Brazil – and so we decided to bring Carnaval to our wedding. We had live musicians and dancers who, for an hour, brought traditional Carnaval to our wedding. It really brought the party to a whole other level, and everyone was so shocked and amazed by it!
