Italian culture is known for its chic style, delicious food, and stunning scenery. It’s no surprise that Ama and Pete’s Sicilian-inspired wedding at La Tenuta Del Baloo was the embodiment of all three. With the help of Junebug member and expert planner Blooming Eventi, the couple’s special day was untraditional, colorful, and edgy.
The venue–perched at the bottom of the Etna volcano–was covered in lush greenery and citrus fruits put together by Panta Rhei and white statue busts that helped maintain the historic elements of the villa. We love that Ama had not one, but two stylish wedding gowns–the second being red!
Photographers and Junebug member Andrea and Federica perfectly captured every small detail, and we’re so excited to share each carefully planned detail. Keep scrolling to see the wedding that belongs in a fashion magazine!

The Edgy Yet Stylish Wedding Day Vibes
Pete and I were never a traditional couple. With this in mind, we wanted a celebration of our love in a very culturally, edgy, and stylish way in a place that really represents who we are–mystic, bold, unique, and quirky. So without a doubt, we decided on a proper Sicilian celebration with colorful, cultured, and intense moments by the Etna volcano.

Researching the Wedding Theme
We really spent two years researching, learning, and traveling to Sicily–particularly to the area of the wedding—to understand the intrinsic cultural elements and how to add them to our wedding weekend to provide an experience to everyone who joined us.

The Most Memorable Part Featuring a Sicilian Tradition
Everything was memorable–full of character and intensity! We will never forget when we saw all our guests from all over the world dressed in black–a Sicilian tradition to protect the couple from bad vibes–dancing the tarantella for 45 minutes.

Sicilian Legend Inspired Favors
Our wedding favors were unique and, again, all linked to the history of Sicily. All our guests received a Testa di Moro–a ceramic vase from Sicily. They were created many centuries ago to represent the legend that during the Moor’s domination in Sicily’s 11th century, a lovely young girl lived in the Kalsa neighborhood in Palermo. Every day, she spent time on the balcony of her house taking care of her plants and flowers. One day a young Moor passing by saw her and was captured by her beauty and declared his love to her, which was immediately returned.

Congratulations again to Ama and Pete on their fashion-forward wedding at La Tenuta Del Baloo! Thank you to Andrea and Federica for sharing their special day with Junebug. Bringing magic to life is no easy task, but wedding planner House of Luce did just that for Samara and Stephen. This Borgo Stomennano Italy wedding was every bit of luxury with baroque touches, a dark red color scheme, a flowing champagne tower, and sparkling chandeliers. There was even a bit of Dolce and Gabbana— and that is always a fabulous addition to any wedding.
While keeping the theme Italian-chic, this wedding is a Pinterest board in itself. Thankfully, David Bastianoni captured every inch of it. Don’t let us spoil all the fun— keep scrolling to be whisked away into by this gorgeous wedding at Borgo Stomennano.
The Couple:
Samara and Stephen
The Wedding:
Monteriggioni, Tuscany, Italy

Why Did You Choose Borgo Stomennano?
We wanted our wedding venue to be at a real Tuscan-style venue where you could experience the history. We didn’t want it to be modern, but rather monumental and majestic. Being surrounded by vineyards, beautiful nature, and a feeling of peace and calm was important to us. Having a beautiful and impressive entrance, specifically a long driveway surrounded by typical cypress trees was a must have, too. We found all of our requirements in one place and were instantly sold. We really wanted the day to be a magical and beautiful experience for us and for our guests. Approaching venues with the idea that it would feel like a little holiday weekend all together—surrounded by our loved ones—where time stood still for a little while really helped in choosing.

An Ode to Italian Fashion
For the styling of the groom, bride, and wedding party, we liked to keep it Italian chic, elegant, and light. We wanted them to be in the same colors. My husband wore a handmade suit from Loro Piana made by Oger Amsterdam and shoes from Carmina. I had my crown custom made and designed by Mignonne in France and my earrings from Christie Nicolaides in Australia. I love baroque style and wanted it to match my wedding dress from Covers Bridal Boutique with wild pearls. My wedding dress was comfortable and light—which I loved—and was covered with appliqués of beautiful 3D flowers, paillette, and beads. It had three layers of lace, tulle, and sparkle. I hand-stitched real sweet water pearls and crystals onto the dress, as an extra special touch. I absolutely loved my matching cathedral length veil, which I wish I could have worn forever.

Welcome Wedding Gifts And Goodbye Recovery Kits
We had a welcome bag for each guest filled with lavender soap, mints, water, a welcome note, mini tic tac toe in a bag, jelly beans, and mosquito repellent spray. For the ceremony, we gave out fans for the guests to keep cool. As a goodbye gift, we handed out little “recovery kits” that were filled with cool bandaids, Advil, Alka Seltzer, a footbath tablet, candies, and a Vitamin C shot. For our parents, we gave them slippers, kimonos, and Cartier perfume. The bridesmaids got slippers and matching kimonos and the groomsmen got flasks, ties, and tie clips.

Wedding Advice for Brides-To-Be
Start planning earlier than you think you should and don’t use a wedding planner you don’t absolutely love. A good wedding planner is everything! We switched twice before we found our dream wedding planner. I recommend investing a lot of time into searching and contacting many vendors to compare and have options to choose from. Don’t wait too long—popular vendors get booked very quickly.

Congratulations to Samara and Stephen on their gorgeous wedding day! Big thank you to Lucette Sforza from House of Luce for sharing this incredible ceremony with us. Melissa and Laura’s minimalist Italian seaside wedding is the perfect example of how wedding planning doesn’t need to be stressful. Rather than hire a wedding team, the couple opted to plan everything themselves and have a lowkey day full of love at Villa Carinzia–a vacation rental. They did their own hair and make-up, purchased their bouquets from a local florist the morning of the wedding, and had a close friend officiate their ceremony. We can’t get over how beautiful it turned out.
Junebug member Emiliano Russo followed the couple around throughout the day and beautifully captured romantic getting ready portraits, the stunning coastal ceremony, and—our favorite photos–the newlyweds roaming the streets of Positano. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to make some pasta and pretend we’re wandering the charming seaside village with them.

Laidback Wedding Day Vibes
On the morning of the wedding, we woke up slowly, had coffee and omelets at a local spot, and then walked to the local florist. We grabbed two bouquets for under $50 and soaked in the sunshine on our walk back to the stunning villa we were staying in. We didn’t hire a team to get us ready, but we did have the most amazing crew with us to capture the images of the stress-free, beautiful day and evening with close friends and family. After the ceremony overlooking the water, we wandered the romantically lit streets of Positano in our wedding dresses. We even stopped for an espresso shot to celebrate with our` crew that quickly felt like family to us.

Incorporating Positano’s Natural Beauty Into Their Italian Seaside Wedding
We went into wedding planning with a minimalistic mind frame, realizing that the less decision making, the better. The beautiful blue ocean as our backdrop did the heavy lifting while sweet accents of local florals and bright rooftops colors sprinkled our day with timeless and breathtaking results.

A Memorable Stroll Through Positano
I’m sure it’s difficult for couples to pinpoint an exact memory because the whole experience is immeasurable, but there was something magical about walking through the city at night. As we passed a large outdoor eatery the entire space erupted with applause for us. We both got chills and the photographers caught that moment in perfect time. I held my hand over my heart in gratitude for the warmth and reception of the people around us.

Congratulations again to Melissa and Laura on their minimalist Italian seaside wedding. We’re so glad that Junebug member Emiliano Russo was there to capture the love shared by this couple. Holy cannoli! We can’t get enough of Christine and Craig’s modern but classic Tuscany wedding at Villa Mangiacane. The property’s bright peach exterior and the surrounding 600-acres of lush vines and groves matched perfectly with the neutral color palette that the couple, along with their planner—Blooming Eventi—picked out.
Our favorite detail? The Vespa bar—complete with Aperol and Campari. Or maybe it’s the fireworks going off as the couple cut their cake. Okay, there might be too many to choose one favorite detail from this real wedding. Stefano Santucci Photography beautifully captured every romantic, thoughtful, and candid moment of the day.
Blooming Eventi’s Vitoria Mariane on the Wedding Day
“Christine and Craig’s story begins almost 12 years ago as juniors in high school. What started as best friends ultimately blossomed into a passionate relationship. The couple knew they wanted to plan a destination wedding for their closest family and friends. In college, Christine studied abroad in Florence and fell in love with everything about the countryside. While researching wedding venues, they decided on Villa Mangiacane in Tuscany.
While planning her wedding, Christine leveraged her professional skill set and work experience to produce a magical weekend that blended Florence and the Italian countryside. She knew most of her guests had never visited Tuscany, and wanted to create a unique, once in a lifetime experience. When deciding on a theme for her wedding, she fell in love with the motif of “an elegant, romantic, and jovial evening set in the heart of Tuscany!” A few accouterments that her guests can’t stop talking about: the Vespa Bar, gelato cart, and fireworks.“

The Wedding:
Villa Mangiacane, Tuscany, Italy

Why They Chose the Villa Mangiacane
Villa Mangiacane felt very special with its unique history and beautiful grounds. We loved the fact that the venue could house a majority of our family and friends, keeping everyone together for a fun weekend in Tuscany. Plus, the villa is a short car ride from the Florence airport, making it easy for guests.

The Couple’s Most Memorable Part of the Day
Walking into our dinner reception following the ceremony and aperitif was our favorite memory of the evening. As the sun set over the Italian countryside, my husband and I joined our closest family and friends in the villa gardens overlooking the vineyards and olive groves. The scene was exactly as I had envisioned throughout my planning, and I felt overcome with happiness seeing everyone enjoying themselves.

Their Italian Wedding Favors
We gave our guests custom handmade straw bags by Italian Summers. The bags were filled with local products: individual Cacio e Pepe spice packets (from Mercato Centrale in Firenze), a bottle of Mangiacane Chianti Classico wine, and mini bottles of Mangiacane-produced extra virgin olive oil. Our wedding hashtag was #CacioePulver, so we wanted to bring the hashtag to life by serving Cacio e Pepe during the wedding dinner and providing the spice in the welcome bags for guests to enjoy back home!

Congratulations to Christine and Craig on their special day at Villa Mangiacane! We’re in love with every single photo captured by Stefano Santucci Studio.
