Mariachis, colorful parades down cobblestone streets, and sleek bridal fashion stole the show during Morgan and Nick’s San Miguel de Allende wedding at Casa Aurora. After settling on a destination wedding, the two began the planning process with the help of San Miguel Weddings. Their ceremony also featured a flower-lined aisle, colorful floral arrangements, and a historic home backdrop. After the two tied the knot, they paraded down the cobblestone streets with donkeys, tequila shots, and mariachis.
Morgan surprised everyone at the reception at Terraza Trinitate by showing up in a second, sleek and modern gown and a brand new haircut–talk about one heck of a wedding surprise. They finished the night off with lots of dancing, mezcal, and tacos, which has us wishing we had gotten the invite! Junebug member–and the couple’s photographer–Mariana Pierce perfectly described the aesthetic of the day:
Mariana Pierce On The Day
Morgan and Nick chose San Miguel de Allende, the infamous tiny town in Mexico’s heartland, to get married. They had their ceremony at Casa Aurora, a colonial house with a beautiful garden. Morgan wore a romantic lace dress to match the 200-year-old home’s look for the first part of her day, while her mismatched bridesmaids wore blush. The groomsmen wore matching walnut suits.
After the ceremony, the two celebrated with traditional festive “Callejoneada” with donkeys, tequila, and mariachis. But, there was a surprise rain shower and they ended up running and laughing with all of their guests in a race to their reception venue–Terraza Trinitate—a pottery and tableware factory—located right behind the city’s landmark Parroquia “pink church.”
There Morgan changed into her second dress–a sleek and sexy gown with boots–and surprised everyone with a new look and new haircut! They partied the night away with music and mezcal and ended it with tacos!

Simple Decor at Casa Aurora
San Miguel de Allende is such a special city with its own very distinct aesthetic, so we wanted something that would compliment the surroundings. We went with a mixture of neutral colors as well as burnt oranges and reds. You don’t need a lot of decor when your backdrop is a beautiful cathedral.
An Outfit Change And A Haircut
I had two dresses. The ceremony dress was much more of a classic bridal look with lace to match the historic venue. Then I switched into a much more comfortable satin dress with boots. I didn’t want to be fussing around with my dress while dancing. I also chopped off about a foot of hair between the ceremony and reception, which was super fun.
Wedding Advice From The Bride
Leave room for the unexpected. Because we had a remote wedding, I was prepared for anything to go wrong. Also, trust the people you’ve hired to help you. Everyone we worked with was so professional and took the stress off my shoulders, which allowed me and my husband to enjoy our day.
Congratulations again to Morgan and Nick on their stunning Casa Aurora wedding! Thank you to Junebug member Mariana Pierce for sharing it with us. To see more of her work, check out her profile in our directory of best wedding photographers in the world!

There’s nothing we love more than a tropical destination wedding here at Junebug, and Tulum happens to be one of our favorites. Leena and Nima’s modern boho middle eastern wedding at Mia Tulum Restaurant and Beach Club was the perfect combination of killer style, a neutral color palette with pops of coral, stunning ocean views, and a whole lot of fun.
We’re utterly obsessed with the small details put together by Junebug member Mango Weddings and Events. From the glamorous Persian Sofreh Aghd to the raffia hand fans to the personalized branded coconuts, this couple thought of everything.
While we could gush for days, we’ll let these beautiful photos from Junebug member–that’s right two members helped make this day magical–Memory Box Photography do the talking for us!

A Megan Markle Inspired Sarah Seven Gown
I wore a Sarah Seven crepe gown. My inspiration was a Megan Markle look–simple with no lace but a bit of detail. I accompanied it with Gucci shoes. The jewelry I ended up wearing on the wedding day was lovely and special. I opted for very simple and delicate Mizuki pearl drop earrings, a tennis bracelet, and stackable thin diamond rings from Iran that Nima’s parents gave to me on the wedding day. I was very happy I could wear some pieces from Iran and felt that that was important to do.
Why a Tulum Destination Wedding
Nima and I got married in Tulum, Mexico. It is not very typical in our cultures to have a destination wedding, but we both agreed from the beginning that we didn’t want to be that typical middle eastern couple. The weddings we’re used to attending are large–with over 300 people–and usually take place in a ballroom. We fell in love with Tulum because of its unique atmosphere, jungle restaurants, ocean views, and bohemian vibes. We especially fell in love with this tiny piece of heaven because of its unexpected middle eastern influence with Persian carpets on the sand and the evil eye decor everywhere you look.
Wedding Day Advice For a Stress-Free Day
We’d say not to sweat the small things that go wrong and to laugh that stuff off. The day Nima and I got married was one of the windiest days we had seen. The guests used the fans we passed out as shields from the sand getting in their eyes, Nima’s eyes were closed in half of the ceremony pictures due to this, and my veil was flying all sorts of ways during the ceremony. This was not in the “perfect wedding plan” that every bride imagines, but if I could pass on any wedding advice to future brides, it would be to laugh that stuff off. Nothing will go exactly as you imagine, but it’s important to remember this day only happens once. Enjoy every moment–even if it is not what you pictured it being.
A Unique Musical Reception
We had a surprise water drum show during our reception. It was so fun to see all of our guests surprised by what was going on, and it was amazing to see my grandparents and our parents get up there and play the water drums. Water drums are not really prevalent in the US, so we were excited to get to incorporate something that none of our guests had experienced before into our wedding day.
Congratulations again to Leena and Nima on their modern boho middle eastern wedding in Tulum! Thank you to Junebug member Mango Weddings and Events for submitting this wedding for us to share. We’re holding on to every last bit of summer here at Junebug–which isn’t too hard with beautiful destination weddings like this one. Sarah and Florzell’s elegant Yucatan wedding at Hacienda Sac Chich had everything we love in destination weddings. The couple, with the help of planner Joe Bolaños Alonzo, created a day that was complete with minimalistic touches that didn’t take away from the historic venue’s natural beauty.
RAW Studio did an incredible job with the florals–focusing on keeping the colors muted, which perfectly contrasted with the lush jungle. And we can’t get enough of the romantic lights hanging amidst the palm trees during their low-key reception. We can’t wait for you to see how Junebug member MemoryBox Photography brilliantly captured every detail of the day. Keep scrolling to see some gorgeous mismatched bridesmaids, a fun first look with the groom and his mother, and a golden hour ceremony.

Why Hacienda Sac Chich
We’ve always been drawn to the juxtaposition of historic and modern architecture, and we wanted a venue where both of our families could stay for the entire wedding weekend. When I stumbled upon Hacienda Sac Chich through The Venue Report, I knew it was the one. We put a security deposit down after one meeting with the venue’s property manager.
Including Family In The Wedding
One of the things we were most pleased with was how personal our ceremony felt. We are both extremely close with our families, who played important roles in the ceremony. Our parents walked us down the aisle, my uncle officiated our ceremony–which we kicked off with a thank you to our parents, our moms led our unity candle ceremony, and my cousin read our scripture passage. We also felt super comfortable throughout the entire ceremony. Looking back at the photos, we were smiling and laughing the whole time even through the tear-filled moments.
Advice For Destination Weddings
If you’re planning a destination wedding, I highly recommend hiring a local wedding planner that has worked with your venue before. We relied heavily on our planner–Joe Bolaños–to connect us with local vendors and negotiate fair prices. If your wedding is in another country, inquire about the vendor payment process ahead of time. We had a learning curve trying to navigate vendor’s preferences (Paypal, Remitly, Xoom, wire transfer, etc.), and we ultimately ended up paying a lot more in fees than we wanted to.
A Traditional Yucatecan Menu
We are big foodies and wanted our guests to experience local Yucatecan cuisine. We served sopa de lima, short rib sopes, shrimp enfrijoladas, and duck confit tacos. Even the cocktails incorporated local flavors like tamarind and guava. In place of a traditional wedding cake, we had a churro cart, making them fresh to order.
