Lida and Nimba’s tropical chic Kima Tulum destination wedding is the epitome of tropical opulence–a 2020 wedding trend–and we are madly in love! The all-white details of the flowers, the bride’s off-the-shoulder fit and flare gown, chairs, napkins, and even the venue itself, are stunningly contrasted against the greenery of Tulum’s lush jungle.
We could go on, but we’ll let these photos captured by Memory Box Photography do the rest of the talking for us while we update our own wedding mood boards. Pin these photos, bookmark this post, and get ready to be inspired. Let’s dive in.

Tropical Wedding Vibes
Our theme was a magical memory in the jungle. We immediately fell in love with the venue (Kima Tulum). All of our guests were traveling a long way to share this day with us, so we wanted to give them a unique experience. There is something special about being in the middle of the jungle that makes it extremely enchanting. We picked white florals and earthy tones to compliment the space.
Including Their Persian Heritage in the Ceremony
We had a Persian ceremony. We are both proud of our heritage and wanted to incorporate it on our day. Elements of the Persian ceremony included a sofre aghd–also known as the spread of engagement.
A Quiet Moment Together As Newlyweds
Following our close friends’ advice, we took a moment at dinner away from everyone and watched our family and friends smiling ear-to-ear. We were both filled with immediate gratitude and love.
Congratulations to Lida and Nima on their chic Kima Tulum destination wedding! Thank you to Junebug member Memory Box Photography for sharing the heartwarming photos and videos with us. To see more of their work, check out their profile in our directory of best wedding photographers in the world!

Incredible wedding day fashion–we’re talking three different outfit changes—a jaw-dropping colorful Hindu ceremony, and a Day of the Dead themed reception. We’re a little bit obsessed with Juan Pablo and Manhar’s Indian-Mexican fusion wedding at Hacienda Uayamon. The couple hired planner Adda Solis–who studied Indian weddings just for the pair–to help their multicultural dreams come true.
The grooms looked dashing in their Sabyasachi and Tarun Tahiliani outfits, which matched the bright red, pink, and blue Hindu ceremony. Not to mention the colored smoke bomb portraits that Junebug member Carlos Elizondo captured oh-so-perfectly.
This is truly one of the most imaginative weddings we have ever seen. Keep scrolling to see intricate Papel Picado banners, traditional Indian dancers, and Mexican-inspired face paint.

A Multicultural Weekend at Hacienda Uayamon
We wanted our wedding to be a multicultural experience (we are a Mexican-Hindu couple), not just one day. A weekend full of celebrations in which our cultural roots were present in a very significant way, full of colors and emotions.
Why Finding The Right Wedding Planner Is Important
The most important thing for us was finding the right wedding planner. We both live in Asia, and planning a wedding in Mexico without the right help would have been impossible. When we met Adda, we knew we were in good hands. She stood there with us even in my worst bridezilla moments. She was passionate, creative, and a fast learner. It was her first Indian wedding and she got certified on Indian weddings so that she could bring more ideas to the table. Her team is outstanding and our wedding was such a success because of her. Our one piece of advice is to find the right wedding planner–the one that gives you peace and comfort.
A Day of The Dead Inspired Reception
We decided to incorporate elements from one of the most well-known traditions of Mexican culture–the Day of the Dead. The reception was full of those iconic elements–centerpieces with marigold flowers, Mexican sweets, confetti, and skulls adorned the magical night. We even hired a makeup artist to paint our guests’ faces like “Catrinas,” kind of like the “Coco” movie.
Congratulations again to Juan Pablo and Manhar on their Indian-Mexican fusion wedding at Hacienda Uayamon! Thank you to Junebug member Carlos Elizondo for capturing and sharing their special day with us. Milette and Tim’s colorful fiesta wedding at City Centro Oaxaca has us googling flights to Mexico right now! With bright colors, lots of mezcal, a parade down the streets of Oaxaca, a confetti toss, and a reception complete with a money dance, these two proved that they know how to party. Peyton Rainey Photography perfectly captured this couple’s emotional first look, intimate ceremony, and the festivities that followed. The most talked-about aspect amongst guests? The food! Restaurante Catedral brought the heat with a traditional four-course Oxacacan feast that was finished off with creme brulee tart, coconut sorbet, and 1 AM churros to keep the hangovers at bay. Our mouths are watering just thinking about it! Milette and Tim’s special day was the perfect combination of Filipino culture and a Mexican fiesta!

We kicked off the wedding festivities the night before with a traditional Oaxacan tradition called a calenda. The calenda is a festive parade marking happy occasions like weddings or graduations. The calenda has a fleet of folk dancers, known as “Chinas Oaxaquenas” who dance around with baskets full of flowers balancing on their heads, as well as a marching band, and are headed by 10-foot wooden puppets of the bride and groom known as “monos. There is also a paper ball printed with the names of the bride and groom, called a “marmoto con letrero,” that is spun around throughout the whole duration of the calenda, like an analog marquee”

Our wedding theme was “el amor es mejor en color” translating into “love is better in color.” The whole wedding was color-themed to evoke fiesta vibes. We asked all our guests to only wear colors ie. no black or white. The bridesmaids wore alternating hues of orange, marigold, and dusty rose, representing a sunset color palette.

In living color, we made a bar our temple when a rainstorm decided to crash the wedding, stopped traffic with our parade of love, danced under a shower of rainbow confetti, drank one too many shots of mezcal, danced with 10-foot versions of ourselves, brought in a mariachi band to serenade us, partied like everyone was watching, and promised the world to one another until death do us party.
My personal favorite Filipino wedding tradition that made its appearance on the dance floor is the money dance. Traditionally, male guests pin money on the dress of the bride in exchange for a dance. But we modernized the tradition by transforming into a contest to determine where we would go for our honeymoon depending on who had the most money at the end of the song

I wanted my wedding day look to be as effortless as possible. Finding the right dress was really important to me, and Grace Loves Lace delivered more than I could have hoped for. I loved my Edie dress SO much! Its mix of a classic silhouette, open back, and tassels were perfect for me and the style I was going for.
I kept the song I walked down the aisle to a secret from Zach until he heard it playing. Actually, my sister is the only one I told ahead of time! The song was Annie’s Song by John Denver. It has a lot of significance to me as it was a song my grandfather whistled/sang to himself all the time. He and my grandmother—who I was extremely close to—passed when I was in high school, so it was my way of bringing them both into my day. Zach knew the significance of the song, as did all of my family who was there. It was so magical for me to walk down towards my new husband arm in arm with both of my parents listening to that song being played.
Lucy truly was incredible. She and her team made our day so effortless for us. I’m no dummy to think it was all sunshine and rainbows for them, but their work to make our day as amazing as it was, we will be forever grateful for. “If I could do it over again I would have a destination wedding”, was something I heard all the time before our wedding. People seem to think it’s easier, and I’m pretty sure they only reason people have that notion is because of amazing coordinators and their teams
