Wes Anderson Inspired Wedding With A Unique Color Palette *

Weddings are not only a day to celebrate your love, but they’re also a day to let loose and have fun. There’s no better way to do that than surrounded by your loved ones, some disco balls, and a theme dedicated to your favorite Hollywood filmmaker. Chloe and Ethan’s Wes Anderson inspired wedding was as stunning as it was eclectic. One look at the photos beautifully captured by Mo Speer Photography, and you’d have no idea that the couple had to scrap all of their original wedding plans thanks to COVID-19.

With a yellow and orange retro color palette, an Alexandra Grecco wedding gown complete with a feather-covered cape, blankets to keep guests warm in the chilly October weather, and dramatic florals arranged by Flowers by Dreams, the couple thought of every single detail. Scroll on to be transported to a magical Wes Anderson inspired wedding–in the best way possible.

Throwing A Wes Anderson Inspired Wedding In Their Hometown

My best friend’s parents own our venue. When we realized that we were only going to be able to host ten guests in Dane county–if at all–they were generous enough to offer their stunning property with lush green hills and an old oak grove forest that looked like it was made to host a ceremony. My best friend got married there a few years before, and we were so lucky that they were excited to host us. I always wanted an outdoor wedding, and it made it extra special that it was in my hometown.

Including Friends and Family In The Ceremony

Our ceremony was completely personalized and written by us, down to the custom vows and ring exchange. We carefully thought about every song that played as we led up to the processional and wanted to ensure the ceremony had substance but represented our love. It was not focused on any religion, so we had a friend read from the Alchemist. Another friend read a poem that I wrote about our love story, and my brother wrote and officiated a whole ceremony around the theme of “love stories.” There weren’t many dry eyes in the crowd when it was all said and done, and it was very laid back and custom to us.

Planning A Wedding With COVID-19 In Mind

The most important thing we learned while planning a wedding during COVID is to keep your love at the center of every decision. We knew we wanted to get married in 2020 and understood that to be able to do that, we’d need to ensure that our guests were safe. We wanted to feel confident knowing that we weren’t putting people at risk. Thoughtful decisions were made to see this through, including an outdoor wedding in late October in Wisconsin, as well as cutting our guest list drastically. We can’t say enough about how wonderful it was to have a small, intimate wedding.
