Ever heard of the superstition that “rain on your wedding day is good luck?” Well this Government Cove elopement should be proof enough that rain on your wedding day is gorgeous regardless! Amber and Monty—two outdoorsy lovers—grabbed their boots and trekked the mountains to exchange their vows in the most scenic way possible. And Amber didn’t let the weather or hike stop her from rocking a stunning polka dot gown.
Not only were the views stunning, but when the rain came down, Amber and Monty snuggled close, grabbed their clear umbrellas, and took time to enjoy being married. Adventure-seekers, this one’s for you. Scroll down to see how Five Fox’s Photography captured this stunning elopement.

Staying In The Moment
I would say we are most proud of just being in the moment together. We wanted to do an elopement-style wedding because we wanted simplicity and aren’t really into flashy moments!
Rain Storm And Snuggles
The most memorable part of the day for us was when we got caught in a crazy rainstorm! Hiding under those beautiful sheer umbrellas we were able to snuggle in close and laugh and watch the rain. It was pure love at that moment.
Stay True To What You Want
My advice is to stay true to what you really want and don’t allow anyone else to steer you away from that! This is your big day and you deserve to look back and have everything you ever wanted.
Why A Government Cove Elopement?
We chose our location because we both love the outdoors and felt that this area had everything we loved between the mountains and the river. There was lush green grass and a little bit of leftover snow that made it the perfect location.
Congratulations to Amber and Monty on their Government Cove elopement! Thank you to Five Fox’s Photography for both capturing and sharing this day with us. Thinking about planning your own adventure elopement? We don’t blame you. Here are four reasons to elope and our ultimate elopement planning guide to get you started.

Like most other couples of 2020, Daniella and Nelson had a small family wedding planned in the Dominican Republic before a pandemic changed the wedding world as we know it. But rather than let that stop them from tying the knot, the couple moved their ceremony to the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in Boston. After saying “I do” in the courthouse, the newlyweds went to lunch, cheered to their future with champagne and cake, and throughout the process took some stunning photos around the city with photographer Scarlet Roots.
Although their special day was small, every detail was well-thought-out–especially their fashion. Daniella looked beautifully casual in her Staud short wedding dress, Jennifer Behr birdcage headband, and Refine chunky headband–all of which accentuated her colorful bouquet from Central Square Florist. Meanwhile, Nelson opted for a more traditional look in a linen guayabera, a button-up shirt typically worn in the Dominican Republic. Who says courthouse wedding fashion has to be boring?

Making Sure The Day Was COVID-Conscious
It was important for us to keep in mind the true end goal–our marriage and life together and not necessarily the day. Since everything came together very quickly, we didn’t have much time to plan. To keep things as safe as possible, we had our ceremony with two witnesses, snapped some pictures, and then went to lunch together. Back home, we called our families and shared some cake and champagne.

Laidback Vibes At The Romantic Courthouse Wedding
We decided to elope after COVID-19 complicated our plans for a small family wedding at home in the Dominican Republic. It was important for us to have a relaxed and fun day, so we kept everything laid back. My look was an easy linen dress from Staud with block heels. I couldn’t decide between the Refine satin headband or the Jennifer Behr veil, so I wore both. Nelson wore a linen chacabana or guayabera that’s traditional in our country. I ordered my bouquet from our local florist the day before.

When it comes to the 90s, we think about AOL Instant Messenger, scrunchies, and VHS tapes, right? With that nostalgia in mind, Junebug Member Nikk Nguyen Photo and his talented team created a vibrant and fun 90s wedding inspiration shoot. With colorful, rainbow streamers and clear inflatable chairs, wedding planner XO Moreau Weddings elevated the 90s vibe by adding stunning florals by The Farmer & I Flower Co and minimalistic table decor.
To stay on the 90s trend, the bride rocked a two-piece, puffy, off-the-shoulder gown from Unbridaled while the groom wore a striped t-shirt under a Bonobo’s grey suit. Plus, they added narrow, rectangle sunglasses to complete their ensembles. Trust us when we say that you’ll want to grab your Walkman and Pop Rocks for this one.
The Photographer’s 90s Wedding Inspiration
With this 90s wedding inspiration shoot at The Riley Building, we wanted to create a chic and modern throwback to a classic decade. It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. The vendors went all out with a playful 1990s-inspired wedding design. It was really important for the designers to mimic the fashion, colors, and vibe of the 90s. With stunning streamers from Pop & Drop, neon flowers with butterfly accents from The Farmer & I, and the inflatable lounge rentals from Bee Lavish, this 90s wedding inspiration shoot was rad!

When lowkey couple Katarina and Reed got engaged, they knew they wanted a small elopement with just the two of them. The elopement in NYC was complete with a ceremony at Long Dock Park overlooking the Hudson River, portraits around the Big Apple captured beautifully by Junebug member Villetto Photography, and a relaxing afternoon at Nomad Hotel.
Although the affair was the epitome of laidback, we love every casual detail–from Katarina’s stunning Banana Republic skirt and sweater combo to the simple bouquet from Flora Good Times.
As if the easygoing elopement wasn’t enough, the day ended with a serendipitous performance from a jazz band in Madison Square Garden. Read on to see how these two proved that your wedding day is less about the party and more about celebrating your unconditional love!

No Regrets At This Small Elopement in NYC
We will never regret that it was just the two of us with our amazing photographers who captured everything to show to our friends and family. We believe the vows and day are between the couple, not the entire world.
Living In The Moment On Their Special Day
We didn’t make one single plan other than our vows with the mayor. I’m very type A, and not having a plan for anything is my actual nightmare. I’m proud that we were able to live in the moment and enjoy every second of it–best decision I’ve ever made.
A Memorable Photo Captured By A Junebug Member
Aside from the photos of our vows, my favorite would be the snap of us right after our first dance in Madison Square Garden. I remember the feeling I had walking away from the band, and Villetto Photography captured it. I’ll be able to look at that picture for the rest of my life and remember that feeling then seeing my husband right next to me with the same look on his face. We were on cloud nine.
Congratulations again to Katarina and Reed on their elopement in NYC, and a big thank you to Junebug member Villetto Photography for capturing the love these two share. Couples around the globe are opting for non-white wedding dresses and colorful suits as a way to better express themselves. While there is nothing wrong with a crisp white gown, it’s not an absolute must-have when you’re shopping for your dress. Whether it’s a subtle color choice like champagne, or a bold choice like black, wearing white is a tradition that you can totally skip.
We scoured the internet in search of the best non-white wedding dresses that range in colors and styles. Get ready to find the colorful dress that speaks to you and your unique personality. Happy shopping!
Non-White Wedding Dresses
When you want to add some color without fully sacrificing a white bridal look, there are a few things you can look for. Some brides opt for a mesh or chiffon overlay that includes color like floral embroidery or beads. You can also look for a slight print, or try bridal separates with a colorful skirt.
Try a Neutral Wedding Gown
If you’re looking to ease yourself into the colorful wedding dress trend, try switching from white to a neutral color. Think colors like champagne, taupe, or grey. These neutral colors still add color to your wedding without being so bold. Plus, these colors are perfect for outdoor weddings and elopements.
Pretty In Pink Wedding Dress
Ever dreamed of running in a pink Bridgerton-esque gown? Then use your wedding day to live out your dreams. With hues like blush or rose gold, you’ll feel pretty in pink while rocking a pink wedding dress. These dresses are perfect for spring or summer weddings at a castle, a beach, or even just in your backyard.
The New Black Wedding Gown
A more popular color choice that brides are opting for is black. Surprisingly enough, black wedding gowns are perfect for fall and winter weddings—and the seasonal wedding boots. Whether you add a tulle black skirt, or go for a full black bridal gown, black is a color that exudes sophistication and elegance. So, if you’re planning a formal, black-tie wedding, opting for this non-white wedding dress might be the perfect choice for you.
Utilize The Gown As Something Blue
You may have heard of the saying “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.” Who’s to say your dress can’t be your something blue from this rhyme? If you don’t choose a blue wedding dress for this meaning, blues are also associated with calmness and purity. Lighter blues are so soft, feminine, and delicate that it would be perfect for spring and summer weddings.
Feel Bold In A Red Wedding Dress
Traditional for Chinese and Indian cultures, the bride wears a red dress to symbolize good fortune, fertility, and prosperity. But if you love the idea of walking down the aisle in a bold color, a red dress is your answer. While red is a dramatic, memorable, and unique color, it’s also associated with love and romance. Seems like a great option for the most romantic day of your life!
If red is your power color, go for it. Opt to wear the color of love. If wearing it down the aisle is too attention grabbing for you, you can always change into a red dress for the reception.
Sparkle In Sequins For Your Wedding
When in doubt, adding sequins and sparkle is often the answer. A full sequin dress is an eye-catching, non-white showstopping dress option. If you’re not sure you can rock sparkles the whole wedding day, these are great outfit changes! Some brides switch to sequin dresses and jumpsuits for their reception or their wedding ceremony. It’s a glamorous look.
Your Favorite Color
If you didn’t see the color you were hoping for, don’t fret. When it comes to your day, it really is your day. Showing off your personality in whatever color you want makes it special. Whether you choose a wedding gown that’s yellow, orange, or even rainbow, we hope you find the color that makes you feel beautiful.
We love to see couples around the world skipping wedding traditions and choosing to celebrate in ways unique to their relationship.
