Golden Hour Lakeside Elopement Featuring A Pet And Brews *

Eloping can be both exciting and adventurous, especially if the bride is a wedding photographer. Leah has seen over 200 weddings and as much as she loves the party and the details, she and Will decided to elope in Canada in a casual, stress-free way to celebrate. With the help of Junebug member Whistler Elopements, this couple whisked off to Lillooet for a golden hour lakeside elopement and created this incredible glamp site—yes, glamping

From shotgunning beers to snuggling up with their dog for a post-ceremony picnic, we couldn’t imagine a more picture-perfect day. Adventurous nearlyweds, this one’s for you. Keep scrolling to see mountain ranges, a red canoe, and a perfect outdoor elopement captured by Tara Lilly Photography

Pickles And Beer Chugs

This is far from traditional, but we chugged a beer mid-ceremony, cause honestly, why not. Our dog, Pickles, laid at our feet the whole ceremony while chewing on her stick. It was perfect.

Advice For Nearlyweds

Honestly, make it about you. It’s not about what your parents want or what your friends suggest. One of the reasons we loved the true secret elopement was the lack of outside opinions.

A Golden Hour Lakeside Elopement

As a wedding photographer, I really wanted a location that was unique in terms of landscape. I wanted to stay clear of places I shoot in often. I also wanted good light. We structured our elopement around when the light would be optimal for photos, and it shows.

A Wedding Dream Come True

When we initially began talking about the vision, I had mentioned how I always dreamed of having a red canoe on an aqua-blue lake. After choosing the location, we figured it would be a royal pain to bring one along. Unknown to us, our vendors surprised us with a red canoe and brought it out on the roof of Paul’s truck to surprise us.

Gorgeous Dark Palette Wedding Inspiration Shoot *

Gorgeous Dark Palette Wedding Inspiration Shoot *

We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again–we cannot get enough of the dark color palettes in 2021. This gorgeous dark palette wedding inspiration shoot put together by Dragonfly Photography used black and gold to create an elegant and modern aesthetic that beautifully matched the interior of the Metropolitan at the 9. And while we can’t get enough of the look of this whole shoot, we love the planning that went into it even more. Rather than explain it ourselves, we’ll let Oona Breyer of Dragonfly Photography do all the talking.

Dragonfly Photography On The Idea Behind The Dark Palette Wedding Inspiration Shoot

Our vendor team is barely under 50% Black-owned companies–it was originally 50%, but one company has to drop out due to COVID quarantine. Our vendor team includes Cake’tique Custom Cakes, Minister Sharnise, Pennmanship Calligraphy, and BR Design Co.

The idea behind the shoot was “a live painting of the bride created a stunning detail for this multicultural art gallery inspired editorial featuring an incredible diverse vendor team.”

This editorial was inspired by the lack of diversity in the wedding industry and the need for more inclusion and couples of color. We put this project together to showcase the beauty of Black love and the incredible talent that a diverse vendor team can bring to a wedding day.

As a fun addition to the shoot, our real-life couple ended up renewing their vows, making it a super sweet event in the midst of a meaningful editorial.

Romantic And Intimate Shakespeare Garden Elopement *

Romantic And Intimate Shakespeare Garden Elopement *

Elopements have taken the world by storm thanks to COVID, and while they may not be the celebrations couples originally planned on having, we love how intimate they are. After months of planning, librarians Amanda and Caitlin opted for a Shakespeare Garden elopement as a nod to their time as booksellers and favorite date night activity.

Caitlin looked glamorous in her Eloquii blue sequined dress, and we’re obsessed with Amanda’s bridal suit. There’s nothing we love more than couples breaking wedding traditions, after all. And both styles fit perfectly with their New York city portraits by photographer Sylvie Rosokoff. Keep scrolling to take a stroll through this Big Apple elopement.

The Couple:

Amanda and Caitlin

The Wedding:

Shakespeare Garden, Central Park, New York

Why A Shakespeare Garden Elopement

We chose the Shakespeare Garden in Central Park as the site of our elopement because one of our favorite traditions–that started before we were even dating–has been to go to Shakespeare in the Park every summer together. We met as booksellers, and are now both librarians. Since we are also early risers we also wanted to marry early in the morning—it’s the perfect way to start the day. Marrying early allowed us to avoid the crowds and made us feel like we were all alone in Central Park.

Unique Bridal Fashion

For a long time, Caitlin thought that we would both be wearing suits at our wedding. However, after a long winter and COVID quarantining, she wanted something colorful and bright and sparkly; something that reflected how she felt–exuberant in love. She was able to find her blue sequined dress on Eloquii in the sale section after a long virtual search. It wasn’t so much about the brand or price of the dress but how it made her feel, which was incredible.

The Couple’s Favorite Photo At The Met

Our favorite photo was taken sitting on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a place we often visit in non-COVID times. We like to get lost amongst the art together. When we first saw this photograph as part of a sneak peek, we actually gasped. It’s of the two of us looking at each other, and Caitlin’s flowers resting against her foot. The colors are so vibrant, and our shared look is so clearly full of love. Sylvie was able to beautifully capture this moment of intimate joy. If we only had this photo of our wedding day, it would be more than enough.

Intimate, Elegant, and Candlelit Playa Balandra Elopement *

Intimate, Elegant, and Candlelit Playa Balandra Elopement *

After getting engaged, Evony and Miguel knew they wanted a unique elopement in a one-of-a-kind destination. Once they figured out those two details, the two fell in love with photographer and Junebug member Donna Irene Weddings’ work and let her take the reins on planning. They ended up with a stunning Playa Balandra elopement featuring sunset vows, portraits amidst the saguaros, and a boat ride photo session that has us dreaming of sunny days at the beach.

There’s no better way to celebrate being newlyweds than to enjoy a luxury picnic–put together by MFC Events–complete with tequila shots and pizza under fairy lights and the night sky. If you’re searching for ways to make your intimate elopement special, keep scrolling because Evony and Miguel nailed it.

Whimsical Boho Vibes At The Playa Balandra Elopement

Our style was heavily inspired by our photographer Donna, who was living in Mexico at the time. She was very familiar with destination weddings and capturing beautiful backdrops. She recommended that we travel to La Paz, Mexico, home to one of the most beautiful and untouched beaches in the world–Playa Balandra. Surrounding the beach were cliffs that overlooked the entire body of water, and we decided to climb up and exchange our vows at the top of the cliff. The vibe was earthy, boho, and whimsical. Using neutral colors and simple accents, we were able to highlight the scenery of Playa Balandra.

Wedding Advice From The Bride

Take the time to map out what you really want on your big day, not what you think others would like or want. Understand that although there are so many details that go into planning, a lot of it is unnecessary. Looking back, some small things won’t matter as much as you thought. However, do not cut corners on hiring your photographer, because it will make or break the experience.

Soaking Up Mexican Culture

Tacos, Tequila, hospitable people, and jaw-dropping views—what’s not to love about Mexico? It was a quick sell for me. Especially since our photographers were living in the area and knew it was such an all-inclusive experience. We not only got to enjoy the views on our wedding day, but there were so many fun excursions to do afterward–like swimming with whale sharks!
