Glamorous Wonderland In Uluwatu Bali Wedding *

You know when it’s a wedding planner’s turn to plan their own wedding, it’s going to be good. So you can bet that Maggy and Filippo’s Wonderland in Uluwatu wedding was the epitome of beauty. In these tropical “I do’s“ –from the seaside ceremony with pampas grass and florals from Classy Decor ID to a laidback reception under the stars—there was no detail untouched.

And while we could go on and on about how chic this Bali lovefest was, we figured we’d let their photographer Selene of ManiSol Weddings do all the talking!

Selene of ManiSol Weddings On The Bali Destination Wedding

Maggy is a wedding planner, and she designed the whole day herself. She even designed her wedding dressand all the dresses for the wedding party–which were then sewn by her sister Beatrice. They had an ocean-front ceremony and an informal picnic-style reception. It was actually a three-part wedding–including this first event in Bali, a reception in Jakarta where the couple lives, and the third wedding in Modena, Italy.

The couple got ready in Villa Lalaland, where they had the first look as well. An Indonesian tradition has the bride and groom exchange the boutonniere and bouquet during the first look, and I found it super sweet! After portraits at the villa, we headed to the ceremony. The ceremony was held in English, Italian, and Indonesian, and it was really beautiful and heartfelt! I loved the picnic reception as well. It was such a perfect idea for that venue. The wedding band sang throughout the reception, and the bride sang a song as well (for all three weddings). It was a perfect mix of tropical and chic!

A Handmade Wedding Dress

I designed my entire wedding outfit from scratch, including buying the fabric and picking the material. I worked closely with my sister, who is a fashion designer, to put every single floral detail on the gown. Then, with the help of my sister’s dedicated seamstress team, we managed to finalize the exact dream dress and shoes that I wanted.

Why A Wonderland In Uluwatu Wedding

I came across a few places in the area I liked and contacted them one by one to get an idea of their prices. After sorting them out based on the wedding budget, we managed to narrow it down to three options. We then flew to Bali to visit those venues–which I think is very important. Funny enough, when we visited our venue, it was still under construction, so we were basically their first client. But I saw the potential right away and with a good bargain, we went for it.

Putting Together The Wedding Budget

The first step I recommend when putting together a wedding budget would be doing a little research on the three most significant costs for the wedding–venue, catering, and decor. I knew exactly what I wanted and finding out the estimated prices for these was how I started. From there, I discussed it with Filippo and we set a budget. We also put aside a good 15-20% for unexpected expenses. Remember that the number of guests will determine your budget, so a good tip for other couples out there would be if you don’t want to spend too much or have a tight budget consider an intimate wedding with just a few close families and friends.

Dazzling Traditional Outdoor Wedding Fused With Unique Details *

This dazzling traditional outdoor wedding proves that traditional doesn’t mean sacrificing unique, personalized, and unforgettable details. Diana and Tom, with the help of their wedding planner Avavi Bali Weddings, designed their dream wedding with intentionality in mind—every detail having a powerful purpose. With good food, entertainment, and jaw-dropping water-front views you can’t go wrong. Not to mention the fun-filled party that ended the night and kicked this couple’s marriage off with a bang. Literally and metaphorically—with fireworks lighting up the sky and the smiles on the guests faces, many of whom had traveled from all over the world

Photographer Terralogical did an incredible job snapping memories that will last long beyond Diana and Tom’s wedding day.

More From The Event Planner On Bringing To Life This Dazzling Wedding

The Bride, Diana, who loves details and design was fully involved in planning her big day and made sure every detail had special meaning! Together with her wedding planner Elisabeth from Avavi Bali Weddings and the wedding decorator Diane & Catharina from Bali Event Styling they brought it all to reality.

Before the actual wedding ceremony, the bride and groom participated in a traditional Chinese tea ceremony with their parents and family held at the villa located in the resort. The tea ceremony highlighted the importance and meaning of family. The actual meaning behind serving tea is to honor honoring God, grandparents, and their parents.

Prioritize Meaningful Wedding Elements

Prioritize the aspects that matter to you the most. Though you want to plan a perfect wedding, don’t fret over every tiny detail or else you’ll find yourselves overwhelmed. Find three aspects that matter to you and your partner the most and spend the most time and energy on those.

A Traditional Outdoor Wedding Turned Party

A lot of our guests mentioned that our wedding was one of the most fun ones that they’ve been to—we were really happy to hear that! Our guests flew in from different parts of the world to be here, and we wanted to make sure they had a good time. Our good friends and emcees were charming and hilarious—keeping the mood lighthearted and chill. We made sure our program was smooth and well-organized so that all guests were well taken care of. At our reception, we played wedding games that involved the guests and ensured that there was plenty of alcohol for everyone (very important!).

Meaningful Wedding Party Favors

We wanted to give out wedding favors that were also meaningful to the guests – we made customized photo frames with our initials on them. At our reception, we had a polaroid station, where guests took photos and inserted them into the frame.

Ending The Night With A Fully-Clothed Swim

We surprised our guests by ending our First Dance with fireworks and the song Despacito, which really got the crowd going—the perfect way to kick off the after-party! At that point, the pressure to ensure everything went smoothly was over. We were able to relax and enjoy ourselves with our friends and family, who flew in from different parts of the world just for us. Everyone was dancing, drinking, having a good time. People even started jumping into the pool for the after-after party. The rest was all a fun blur.

Simple Bali Wedding Shows Off the Constant Heaven Villas *

We can never get enough of tropical destination weddings and we’re swooning over Kelley and Rene’s simple yet stunning Bali getaway at Constant Heaven Villas. With the help of the planners at the venue, the two created an intimate no-frills celebration of love. Our favorite part? The wedding party jumping into the pool fully clothed at the end of the night—talk about the perfect send-off! If you’re dreaming of faraway places and can’t get enough of Bali weddings, you’ll love these photos beautifully captured by Gusmank Photography.

Gusmank Photography’s Ida Bagus Adhiguna’s Take

“Kelley and Rene managed to create a beautiful, unique wedding day, in a very relaxed and intimate way. They cut the frills and focused on what was most important to them: their love for each other. This brought such clarity and peace to the whole wedding day.

This family-oriented wedding took place at the private villa, Constant Heaven in Ubud which brought so much personality to the whole day, and gave this wedding the intimate and relaxing time that Kelley and Rene were looking for. The flower arch and the greeneries were amazing backdrops for the ceremony. It felt like they were in a movie, starring in their own perfect love story. Kelley’s beautiful and simple dress fit the scene perfectly so much so that she didn’t even need a red carpet to steal the show!”

Why Constant Heaven Villas in Ubud

We selected our venue in Ubud, Indonesia because we wanted a location that enabled our wedding party to stay there for the wedding week and also serve as the ceremony and reception venue.

The Wedding Vibes

We wanted to celebrate the natural beauty of Ubud, so our overarching goal was to do as little as possible to distract from the amazing views and people. For us, the celebration was all about the people we shared our special day with and the naturally incredible surroundings that Bali has to offer. Our wedding style was very simple and elegant within a neutral palette. We felt that this highlighted the lush scenery and stunning backdrops.

How They Personalized the Wedding

We made the ceremony special to us by writing our own vows and reading them to each other in front of our friends and family. During the reception, we also celebrated a few very special friends who could not be with us with a brief fireworks show (coordinated by our venue manager). It was breathtaking!

Our Favorite Wedding Moment

Our entire wedding party jumped into the pool after dancing to cool off—full wedding attire included! It was one of our favorite moments and we wouldn’t change a thing.
