COVID Can’t Cancel This Outdoor Weekend Wedding

After a year of uncertainty and so many sacrifices due to COVID restrictions, the most memorable part of the day was simply getting married! We had waited so long for the day to finally be here, and despite all the challenges that came our way, we relished in the beauty of our wedding day and the happiness of knowing we could finally celebrate our marriage surrounded by our nearest and dearest.

The Benefits Of Hiring Trusted Wedding Vendors

Personally, I knew that on my wedding day, I did not want to be that bride that is stressed about the minor details and wanted to be able to enjoy the whole experience. One of the best decisions we made was building a vendor team that we trusted to make sure everything came together in the best way possible. From our wedding planner to the decor team, to our wonderful photographers and videographers, I honestly felt like we had full confidence in their work. There will always be mishaps and challenges that arise on the wedding day itself, but if you know that your vendors always produce amazing work, it is easier to sit back and let everything smooth out organically.

Romantic And Intimate Wedding In The Abbey of San Pietro *

Romantic And Intimate Wedding In The Abbey of San Pietro *

A stunning historic chapel, a perfectly green countryside, and a surprise from their two kids—Elisa and Alessandro had the wedding of their dreams at the Abbey of San Pietro. By using the venue as the centerpiece, the couple added perfectly romantic details like a soft color palette, stunning floral arrangements by Sartoria Floreale, and timeless table decor.

They were surrounded by their family and friends, and included their two kids in the ceremony and—trust us—it’s really adorable. We’re excited to share this totally romantic and intimate wedding, captured by Junebug members Andrea & Federica. Keep on scrolling to get the Italian inspiration you were looking for. Adiamo!

The Wedding:

The Abbey of San Pietro, Umbria, Italy

Why The Abbey of San Pietro?

The Abbey of San Pietro in Valle in Ferentillo holds a special place in my heart. I used to go there as a child with my parents and it represents authentic Umbria—a jewel set in the mountains. For us, it was the ideal place for the kind of wedding we were planning. After he asked me to marry him, the first thing I did was call to find out the available dates.

Wedding Planning Advice

During the planning process, we let ourselves be guided by emotions. We were lucky enough to meet wonderful people on our path. I believe that the organization of the wedding is part of the wedding itself. The greatest advice is to enjoy every single moment. Not everything will go perfectly, but it will be perfect.

Perfectly Romantic Wedding Colors

We choose our colors with floral designer Sartoria Floreale. Romina is located in the heart of Spoleto and from the first meeting, we immediately felt in harmony. We met in the center of her shop immersed in the colors and scents of flowers and essential oils. At the end of the meeting, we settled on the idea of using Rosa Cipria, mauve, white, butter, sage green palette with a very light touch of burgundy. Then we added dark iron in the materials and glass to create a dreamy color palette!

Shopping For Wedding Dresses

When I saw my wedding dress, it was love at first sight. It was the first one I tried on. Simple, but elegant fabric with a tailored cut. It was more of a white evening dress—I felt like a real princess. Inspired by an icon of mine, Charlotte of Monaco, I added a necklace for the reception.

The Wedding Team:

Photography – Andrea & Federica
Venue – Abbazia di San Pietro in Valle
Floral Design – Sartoria Floreale
Catering – Lincei Catering
DJ – Luca Zappelli
Live Music – Diana Cover Band
Videography – Cinemotion Fims
Makeup Artist & Hair Styling – AB Style
Wedding Dress – Alberta Ferretti
Rings – Unoaerre

Congratulations to Elisa and Alessandro on your romantic and intimate wedding! Thank you to Andrea & Federica for capturing this beautiful day and for sharing it with us. If you love the Italian countryside, get some additional inspiration from this modern vintage wedding and this vineyard wedding to make you feel like you’re in Italy.

When it comes to honeymoons, no rule says you have to jet set to a far-off destination. Whether you’re saving up money to pay off debts, buy a house, or you’re just not ready to travel, there are still many ways to celebrate being a newlywed with your new partner.

From low-key plans like spa days to adrenaline-rushing activities like a hot air balloon ride, these creative honeymoon ideas give you the chance to soak in the feeling that is being newly married without having to hop on a plane!

Camping or Glamping

If you and your new spouse are big adventure lovers, this one’s for you. Whether you pitch a tent or you opt to go glamping, there’s nothing better than getting out and being one with nature. Camping gives you the chance to sleep under the stars (so romantic), hike, swim, tube, or just kick back and relax with your favorite book in a hammock. Just don’t forget to pack the s’mores!

Spa Day

Although you may not be traveling, a honeymoon can still be all about treating yourself for all of the hard work that goes into wedding planning. A spa day will leave you feeling relaxed, and you’ll walk away a brand new person. Complete the experience with massages, manicures, pedicures, facials, and more.

Take A Cooking Class

Is there anything better than a home-cooked meal? Spend quality time together and whip up a meal to remember at a cooking class. Whip up homemade pasta, a cultural fusion, or the dessert of your dreams–there are so many options to choose from. Plus, you’ll be able to keep the recipe and make it a regular meal throughout your marriage.

If you’d rather someone do the cooking for you, you can also hire a private chef to come to your home and prepare a meal for the two of you. This way, you can sit back and relax with a glass of wine.

Go To A Music Festival

If you’ve ever attended a music festival, then you know how exciting it is to watch some of your favorite music artists with your friends. It’s even better with your spouse! Make new memories with your spouse and find a  music festival with artists you both love. A weekend spent listening to good tunes, dancing, and soaking up the sunshine–what more could you want?

Take Massage Classes

Are you looking to spice things up a bit? While you could get a couple’s massage–which we’re always a fan of–why not bring the heat home? Melt offers online massage courses that teach you how to finesse your hands and focus on the areas of tension for the ultimate relaxation experience. All you need is oil, your partner, and a computer.

Spend A Day At An Amusement Park

We wholeheartedly believe that we’re all children at heart, and there’s no better way to showcase our playful sides than a day at an amusement park. From arcade games with prizes to roller coasters that will have you screaming your head off, this is such an easy and fun way to celebrate your love.

Volunteer

If you and your new spouse would rather spend your time helping others, a volunteer day is one of the sweetest and most thoughtful ways to celebrate your love while giving back. It’s a creative way to create memories and create a long-lasting impact on your community.

Help plant a community garden, spend the day at the humane society playing with pups, or put together care packages for the homeless. Follow up your hard work with a nice dinner, just the two of you, and talk about everything you felt and learned during your creative honeymoon experience.

Dazzling Traditional Outdoor Wedding Fused With Unique Details *

Dazzling Traditional Outdoor Wedding Fused With Unique Details *

This dazzling traditional outdoor wedding proves that traditional doesn’t mean sacrificing unique, personalized, and unforgettable details. Diana and Tom, with the help of their wedding planner Avavi Bali Weddings, designed their dream wedding with intentionality in mind—every detail having a powerful purpose. With good food, entertainment, and jaw-dropping water-front views you can’t go wrong. Not to mention the fun-filled party that ended the night and kicked this couple’s marriage off with a bang. Literally and metaphorically—with fireworks lighting up the sky and the smiles on the guests faces, many of whom had traveled from all over the world

Photographer Terralogical did an incredible job snapping memories that will last long beyond Diana and Tom’s wedding day.

More From The Event Planner On Bringing To Life This Dazzling Wedding

The Bride, Diana, who loves details and design was fully involved in planning her big day and made sure every detail had special meaning! Together with her wedding planner Elisabeth from Avavi Bali Weddings and the wedding decorator Diane & Catharina from Bali Event Styling they brought it all to reality.

Before the actual wedding ceremony, the bride and groom participated in a traditional Chinese tea ceremony with their parents and family held at the villa located in the resort. The tea ceremony highlighted the importance and meaning of family. The actual meaning behind serving tea is to honor honoring God, grandparents, and their parents.

Prioritize Meaningful Wedding Elements

Prioritize the aspects that matter to you the most. Though you want to plan a perfect wedding, don’t fret over every tiny detail or else you’ll find yourselves overwhelmed. Find three aspects that matter to you and your partner the most and spend the most time and energy on those.

A Traditional Outdoor Wedding Turned Party

A lot of our guests mentioned that our wedding was one of the most fun ones that they’ve been to—we were really happy to hear that! Our guests flew in from different parts of the world to be here, and we wanted to make sure they had a good time. Our good friends and emcees were charming and hilarious—keeping the mood lighthearted and chill. We made sure our program was smooth and well-organized so that all guests were well taken care of. At our reception, we played wedding games that involved the guests and ensured that there was plenty of alcohol for everyone (very important!).

Meaningful Wedding Party Favors

We wanted to give out wedding favors that were also meaningful to the guests – we made customized photo frames with our initials on them. At our reception, we had a polaroid station, where guests took photos and inserted them into the frame.

Ending The Night With A Fully-Clothed Swim

We surprised our guests by ending our First Dance with fireworks and the song Despacito, which really got the crowd going—the perfect way to kick off the after-party! At that point, the pressure to ensure everything went smoothly was over. We were able to relax and enjoy ourselves with our friends and family, who flew in from different parts of the world just for us. Everyone was dancing, drinking, having a good time. People even started jumping into the pool for the after-after party. The rest was all a fun blur.

Sunset Kozani Wedding Steeped In Romantic Elegance *

Sunset Kozani Wedding Steeped In Romantic Elegance *

Who says backyard weddings are boring? With the help of Pompon Story Events, Sofia and Antonis transformed their Greek farmhouse into a stunning wedding venue that hosted over 500 guests! After tying the knot at a local church, the newlyweds made their way to their home for an unforgettable celebration.

The couple pulled their blue, black, white, and gold color palette from the one they use in their own home and incorporated it in all of the carefully curated decor. The outdoor space was complete with a black marble bar, simple yet elegant florals arranged by Amaryllis, a chessboard-inspired dance floor, and two oversized tents draped in fairy lights that made for the most romantic reception backdrop.

Photographer Upon Two Weddings beautifully captured every well-thought-out detail–from bridal portraits with the bride’s father to sunset images and the extravagant party full of dancing and laughter.

The Couple:

Sofia and Antonis

The Wedding:

Livadero, Kozani, Greece

Why A Greek-Inspired Sunset Kozani Wedding

We were born and raised in Switzerland and wanted to celebrate our wedding in our home village in Greece. The venue was our own farmhouse. We wanted our guests to feel like they came to our home to celebrate with us. Our love for gold, black, and white with blue shades can be seen all over our house–which is why we chose those to be our colors for the wedding. We wanted it to reflect us, not only the decoration but also the music and even the food.

A Very Large Guest List

Being Greek, we have a lot of relatives, and being from the same place did not make it not easier. Due to COVID-19, we did not know how many people we could invite to our wedding. We had multiple lists with 50, 100, 200, 500, and over 1000 guests! First, there were, of course, our families and closest friends. Then on the following list were some close relatives which we have a very good relationship with. On another list, we expanded it to even more relatives. We ended up having a wedding with 500 guests.
